What is I.P.G.?

The International Professional Groomers, Inc is an International organization which:
• Provides International industry standards for the professional pet groomer based upon the country’s breed standards of perfection. Tests are currently available for the US, Australia and Canada with translations in French and Spanish.
• Provides advanced continuing education programs designed to enhance the technical expertise and business acumen of professional pet groomers.
• Provides a Code of Ethics to be followed by all members and certified groomers, suitable for framing.
• Provides an examination program whereby the grooming expertise of professional pet groomers may be demonstrated and certified. These tests are based upon the breed standards found in the American Kennel Club’s The Complete Dog Book, 20th edition (or your country’s governing Kennel Club standards) and the I.P.G.’s Certification Guidelines.
• Certifies pet groomers in five phases, culminating in the International Certified Master Groomer (I.C.M.G.).

Membership in I.P.G., Inc. provides:
• Certification Testing is available only to I.P.G. members.
• Certification Testing may be taken in any sequence with the exception of the Masters Test which may be taken only upon completion of all other tests with a score of 86% or better.
• Testing may take as little as one weekend or as long as five years to complete.
• Re-Testing of any test is only half price and can be taken 30 days following original test.
• Quarterly newsletters to keep you abreast of association activities as well as industry news and events.
• Certified Groomers Directory published annually will list all certified I.P.G. members.
•  A Membership Certificate and Code of Ethics suitable for framing, reissued annually.
• Notification of I.P.G., Inc. certification test sites, workshops and continuing education opportunities, as well as other national and international seminars.
• A public forum among your peers is available on www.ipgcmg.org with special forums for members only.
• Professional fellowship: I.P.G., Inc. provides you an opportunity to expand your professional contacts and make new friends among individuals with common interests, concerns and goals.

What is I.P.G. Certification?

The International Professional Groomers, Inc. certifies Pet Groomers based upon their knowledge of all the recognized breeds, anatomy, terminology, bathing, safety, health, and sanitation.

Certification Testing conducted by I.P.G. will enable the groomer to be certified in five phases: Certified in Salon Details, Certified Non-Sporting, Certified Terrier, Certified Sporting/Gun Dog, and ultimately as an International Certified Master Groomer (I.C.M.G.).
